The law makes both parents financially responsible for their children. The parents’ income and the custody arrangement determine who receives child support and who pays it. Massachusetts calculates child support under the Massachusetts Child Support Guidelines. We recommend that you seek out a qualified Massachusetts Child Support Attorney.

The state last amended these guidelines in 2021. Courts tend to follow the Child Support Guidelines and formula. A deviation from the Guidelines may be warranted in some cases. If you believe a child support deviation is warranted in your situation, have a Massachusetts Child Support Attorney help you seek a deviation through the court and guide you through the process.
